Usage Instructions:
Traditional Rasam Recipe
- Extract juice from a small gooseberry-sized tamarind ball.
- Add salt, chopped tomatoes, and a slit green chili.
- Stir in 1 heaped teaspoon of Yuvalok Rasam Powder
- Boil gently for about 10 minutes until the raw tamarind smell fades.
- Mash about a ladle of cooked toor dal and dilute with water, then add to the rasam.
- Boil for 2 more minutes, keeping the heat low — this is key for good rasam.
Tempering (Tadka)
Heat ghee and add:
- Mustard seeds
- Cumin seeds (jeera)
- Curry leaves
- Dry red chilies
- A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
Pour the tempering over the rasam and garnish with freshly chopped coriander.
Optional Flavor Boosters:
- Add coriander stems while cooking for extra aroma.
- Crushed garlic can be added during cooking or in the tempering for a richer taste.
Storage Tips:
Store in an airtight container, away from moisture. Use a dry spoon to retain freshness.
