How to Make Traditional Sambar

- Soak and extract juice from a small lemon-sized tamarind.
- Add 4 tablespoons of Yuvalok Sambar Powder to the tamarind extract.
- Add vegetables of your choice. (Some veggies may require sautéing, others may need pressure cooking — adjust as needed.)
- Add salt.
- Cook until the mixture starts thickening.
- Add cooked dal. (We recommend about ¾ cup uncooked dal for a lemon-sized tamarind, serving 5–6 people.)
- Avoid boiling too long after adding the dal to prevent over-thickening.
